Why it is paused
Note apps fail at the same place: filing. Capture is easy, and then everything ends up in one endless list because deciding where a note belongs is work you do not want to do while having the thought.
SmartNotes did the filing. A note sat in a short cooling-off window in case you wanted it back, then went into the right bucket — existing or newly created — and if it was not confident, it put the note in review with a couple of one-tap suggestions rather than guessing. Every note kept its original date, so you could ask what you wrote on a given day regardless of where it landed.
It is paused as its own app because the capture surface that actually wins is the one already open: Sam PA takes the same note on WhatsApp, with nothing to install. The filing ideas went with it.
